Join neighbors, the City of Berkeley and Cal student volunteers for a neighborhood Fall sprucing up!
Saturday, October 26th
10 AM to 4 PM
Meet at 1508 Julia Street for morning refreshments.
Whether you join us for an hour or the whole day, we’d love to see as many neighbors out as possible!
We plan to pick up trash, sweep out the storm drains in preparation for the winter rains, and weed and plant sidewalk strips!
If you have any other project ideas or if you’d like some Cal students to work on your sidewalk strip, please let me know and we’ll get it done!!
If your strip has yet to be planted with daffodil bulbs, it would be great to multiply our display of color that carpets the neighborhood each early spring!
Looking forward to seeing many of your on October 26th!

Please join us for a meeting on Monday, July 22nd at 7 PM at 1508 Julia Street.
We’ll be meeting with Elizabeth Garcia who is with the City of Berkeley’s Office of Economic Development to continue the conversation about Sacramento business district improvements. See below details about the broader effort.
We’ll send out the meeting agenda later this week.
We hope you’ll be able to make it!
Today, Tania and I (Sofia) had the pleasure of meeting with several staff members from the City to follow up on the Sacramento Street Business District improvements discussion that was started at our April meeting.
Our main takeaway is that there will be a community meeting in September to bring together all the Sacramento Street stakeholders (including neighbors!). This will be lead by Elizabeth Garcia, from the Economic Development office at the City. It will be an opportunity for all stakeholders to express their dreams for and frustrations with Sacramento Street, and from there for Elizabeth to gather the appropriate resources to address those dreams and frustrations.
A brief summary of today’s meeting is below.
Come join your neighbors for a special CalJulia Neighborhood meeting with Christine Daniel, Berkeley City Manager, our City Councilmember, Max Anderson, and other city officials:
Tuesday, April 16th
MVMNT Studio, 2973 Sacramento Street
This is an important opportunity to talk to the City of Berkeley about our neighborhood’s priorities. The agenda will include:
- traffic calming at California and Julia Streets;
- storm water improvements at California and Julia (the site of localized flooding as a result of crushed culverts); and,
- Sacramento Street Business District Improvements.
We hope you will be able to come and speak directly with city officials about these and other neighborhood priorities. Spread the word to CalJullia neighbors! And please let us know if you can help set up, clean up, or pass out flyers!
A special thanks to MVMNT Studio for hosting the meeting and a heartfelt neighborhood welcome to this vibrant new business!
